Tips for Preventing the Summer Slide
Studies show that children who do not read or have access to books during the summer lose up to 2 months of reading performance. Those losses accumulate during the elementary school years so that by the time a child enters middle school he/she may be 2 1/2 years behind! All children, whether from low, middle or upper income families, may fall victim to the “summer slide” if not provided with summer reading opportunities. So how do we prevent the summer slide-or even accelerate reading growth?

This past Saturday marked the 3rd successful tournament for our SST Alamo Karate Club members. Every student that competed gave 100% effort and displayed great sportsmanship whether they placed or not. A special thank you to our karate club parents for your support and encouragement. |SST STUDENTS IMPRESS U.S. REP. LAMAR SMITH|
SST students impressed U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith
Mr. Smith (R-San Antonio) walked onto the School of Science and Technology (SST) campus Tuesday Feb. 16th, he found a very well-researched group of students waiting for him.
U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith presented our school with a certificate commemorating the entry into the Congressional Record in honor of the SST’s 10th anniversary.

SST Academic team has prepared a resource site called Parent Connect to provide information on the concepts taught for each subject during each grading period, a list of resources for the course including online access for some materials, as well as other online resources that can enhance your child`s learning at home.
